Your mood = your food

Your mood = your food

Can food affect your mood?

The short answer is Yes!

But what does food have to do with how we feel?

When we consider the connection between the brain and the gut, it’s important to know that 90% of serotonin receptors are located in the gut. The brain and the gut communicate via the vagus nerve. (It’s Unimaginable!) Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps regulate many functions like sleep, appetite, moods and many more.

The production of serotonin is largely influenced by the billions of "good" bacteria in your intestinal microbiome. These bacteria play an essential role in your overall health.

When the balance between the good and bad bacteria in the gut is disrupted, it can lead to the occurrence of various diseases.

According to Harvard Medical School these things can help maintain a healthy gut:👇🏽
1. eat enough fiber and include pulses and whole grains in your diet
2. include probiotic-rich foods
3. reduce sugar intake
4. add fermented food

We love fermented foods but we love delicious granolas and lattes so much more so we created the first-ever granola bites with:
-gut-healthy pro and prebiotics
-pulses (peas and chickpeas)
-10x less sugar (1g-4g total sugar)
-21% DV of fiber per just 1 serving!

Smart nutrition and feeling good go hand in hand :)

Disclaimer: when we talk about mood issues we are referring to very mild fluctuations and forms of depression and anxiety. In other words, food is not going to impact serious forms of depression and they require other treatments.
